Job Title: Maintenance Technician II
Job Purpose:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, and improving processing and facility equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role requires strong mechanical aptitude, advanced technical skills, regulatory compliance awareness, and the ability to work collaboratively while supporting production with minimal supervision.
Essential Qualifications
•Demonstrated mechanical aptitude with a strong foundation in mechanical systems and equipment
•Strong work ethic with reliable attendance (fewer than 3 attendance points)
•Ability to follow directions, ask questions, and demonstrate interest and initiative
•Clear verbal and written communication skills
•Ability to read and write English
•Basic math proficiency
•Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and CMMS systems
•Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities
•Ability to work well with others while maintaining a high quality of work
•Engagement, initiative, and accountability in daily responsibilities
•GMP and PPM compliant
Technical Skills & Knowledge
•Advanced knowledge and use of hand and power tools
•Strong understanding of:
o Hydraulics and pneumatics
o Pumps and heat exchangers
o Power transmission systems
o Basic electrical systems
•Ability to operate a handheld amp meter
•Knowledge of a wide range of welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and ARC
•Ability to safely operate scissor lifts and boom lifts
•Ability to operate a lift truck with a high level of accuracy
•Ability to conduct emergency welding procedures during production runs with minimal supervision
Maintenance & Equipment Responsibilities
•Complete work orders and preventative maintenance (PMs) in Megamation at 94% or higher
•Complete all required email pass-downs per shift
•Perform all assigned shift rounds and demonstrate an introductory understanding of recorded readings
•Understand product flow throughout the process and identify equipment by name and function
•Assemble and bring Urschel cutters online
•Unplug cutter loops independently
•Build tension knives
•Rebuild Van-Mark abrasive rolls
•Weld ADR belts
•Maintain excellent housekeeping standards
Welding & Fabrication
•Basic to advanced welding skills, including preparation and execution (MIG, TIG, ARC)
•Ability to safely and effectively weld during live production as needed
•Maintain quality, consistency, and safety standards during all welding activities
Safety, Compliance & Training
•No safety violations within the previous year
•No LOTO violations within the previous year
•Current HazWOPER certification (or ability to maintain)
•Annual training compliance
•Annual PSM training compliance, including SOPs and 109s
•Active participation in the PSM Risk Management (RM) program
•Attendance and participation in PLC and Refrigeration training
Systems & Process Knowledge
- Demonstrated understanding of the following core systems:
- Soft water system requirements
- Boiler water testing procedures
- Adding oil to liquid ammonia pumps
- Condenser readings and chemical delivery
- Waste system operations
- Air compressor operations and requirements
Physical & Environmental Requirements
- Ability to stand and work on feet for up to 8 hours per shift
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 100 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to climb ladders, work at heights, and operate lifts safely
- Ability to work in industrial environments with varying temperatures, noise levels, and moving equipment
- Ability to perform repetitive motions, bending, kneeling, and reaching as required
