Job Description

Description: Our summer camp program leads help run our two Lake Orion Enrichment Services day camps: Camp Wanna Have Fun and Camp ExpLOrion. These camps serve more than 200 students entering 1st through 8th grade and offer a wide range of enriching activities, swimming, and field trips. Camp operates from June 15 to August 14 at Webber Elementary School, with standard working hours from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.


 


Qualifications:



  • A Bachelor’s or Associates degree in Education or a related field is preferred.

  • At least 3 years’ experience working in a summer camp or school

  • Leadership experience

  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbally.

  • CPR/First Aid Certified OR willing to become certified before the summer begins

  • Must be able to monitor the safety and well-being of campers.

  • Must be able to actively participate in a variety of activities, including swimming.


 Duties:



  • Work collaboratively with the co-lead to plan and implement activities for camp based on weekly/daily themes provided.

  • Set rules and expectations for campers and staff to follow.

  • Manage camper behaviors to ensure a safe and fun experience for all campers.

  • Communicate with parents/guardians.

  • Write a weekly newsletter to be sent to parents/guardians about upcoming activities.

  • Keep track of/file camp discipline and camper injury forms completed by staff. Communicate with parents/guardians about these incidents, if applicable.

  • Supervise camp field trips.

  • Supervise camp swimming

  • Administer medicine to campers with proper paperwork (training provided)

  • Be knowledgeable of emergency procedures and assist in emergencies.

  • Assist the Director of Summer Day Camps with staff training and supervision.

  • Other tasks as assigned by the Director of Summer Day Camps
