About Hedral

Hedral is redefining building design through automated, multi-disciplinary engineering.

We develop and operate a proprietary platform that accelerates design schedules, enabling us to deliver the output of traditional AEC firms ten times our size. We are fully licensed to stamp these designs as Engineer of Record and take responsibility for highly-consequential projects, from mission-critical federal facilities to complex commercial infrastructure.

We are scaling quickly with backing from leading venture capital including Khosla Ventures, Valor Equity Partners, and Tishman Speyer.

The Role

As a Full Stack Engineer Intern, you will embed directly with our engineering team to build features that bridge high-fidelity engineering with scalable software. You won't be working on "intern projects"—you will ship production code, contribute to our core data models, and use AI-assisted workflows to accelerate your output. This role is for a builder who is obsessed with speed, technical rigor, and learning how to solve high-consequence physical problems with software.

Location

Austin, TX or New York, NY - Primary preference for Austin or NYC; remote-eligible for exceptional candidates with a proven track record.

Core Responsibilities

  • Feature Delivery: Build and ship end-to-end features using C# (.NET) or Python (FastAPI) on the backend and React/TypeScript on the frontend.

  • System Support: Assist in implementing ECS (Entity Component System) components and managing data flows for our automated design solvers.

  • API Development: Develop and optimize the APIs that connect our browser-based 3D viewer with our backend services or thrid party connectors.

  • AI-Driven Velocity: Master and utilize AI-powered development tools (Cursor, Copilot) to multiply your impact and ship code faster.

  • Cross-Functional Learning: Participate in design reviews and technical deep-dives, learning how to translate Structural or MEP engineering requirements into robust code.

Requirements

  • Current Student: Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Graduate program in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline. (This role is not for candidates who have already graduated).

  • Technical Foundation: Strong proficiency in at least one backend language (C#, Python, or C++) and a solid understanding of data structures and algorithms.

  • Frontend Basics: Proficiency in React and TypeScript; ability to build clean, functional UIs that interact with complex data.

  • Builder Mindset: A portfolio of personal projects, previous internships, or open-source contributions that demonstrate a passion for shipping products.

  • Intensity: A commitment to high-bandwidth collaboration and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, rapid-iteration environment.

Bonus Qualifications

  • Previous Internships: Prior experience at a high-growth startup or technically rigorous software company.

  • Systems Interest: Interest in low-level performance, memory management, or systems languages like Rust.

  • 3D/Graphics Knowledge: Exposure to Three.js, WebGL, or geometric computing.

  • Database Exposure: Experience working with PostgreSQL or other relational databases.

How we operate

  • Ownership & Intensity: We operate with high autonomy and a shared sense of urgency to redefine an entire industry.

  • Speed Over Perfection: We emphasize rapid iterations and shipping quickly. We prioritize automation over manual effort to solve high-consequence problems.

  • Adaptive Learning: We value engineers who step out of their comfort zones. Whether it's learning a new language or mastering a new AI tool, we expect constant evolution.

  • Data-Driven Decisions: Our core advantage is that our system learns from real, stamped engineering work. Every project feeds back into the model.

What we offer

  • Competitive Compensation and Benefits

  • Environment for Growth: A culture that rewards technical curiosity and high-bandwidth collaboration.

  • Impactful Autonomy: The opportunity to shape the future of AEC by working at the intersection of structural engineering and cutting-edge software.

  • High-Stakes Technical Ownership: Direct responsibility for the systems that power mission-critical federal and commercial infrastructure.
