The Sterilization Technician is a key part of the ultimate patient experience. The Sterilization Technician is responsible for sterilizing all clinical equipment throughout the workday and maintaining a clean and orderly workflow.
Responsibilities
· Properly sterilize all dental instruments and equipment in accordance with departmental standards
· Perform all opening of the front, closing, and maintenance procedures as well as other duties as delegated by the Clinical Coordinator
· Restock and maintain an inventory of dental supplies and instruments to assure a constant level is always available
· Communicate to the Clinical Coordinator, any supplies that need replenishing or replacement
· Maintain order and cleanliness in the dental lab and in the sterilization area
· Maintain proper pre-set trays and ensure they are ready for anticipated procedures and ready all necessary materials and instruments needed for treatment
· Assist clinical staff in optimizing patient flow. This will include restocking technician stations during clinic hours if needed, seating patients, “floating,” and supporting other dental team members with patient care.
· Prepare operatory for patient reception and assure it is as aseptic as possible for patient welfare
· Assist technicians with seating patients when necessary.
· Demonstrate understanding and apply working knowledge of safety policies and ensure safe member practices
· Safely perform all duties; follow required protective protocols to ensure personal safety as well as the safety of others
· Wear long sleeve shirts with scrubs
· Wear closed-toe shoes
· Must maintain compliance with ergonomic safety standards; be mindful of posture and regularly practice ergonomic stretches
· Work well under pressure, meet multiple and often complete deadlines
· Assist on non-patient days with the cleaning of the clinic and sterilization area.
· Ensure deband baskets are kept in good supply and ensure there is a sufficient amount for the upcoming week
· At all times demonstrate cooperative behavior with supervisors, subordinates, colleagues, clients, and the community
· Other duties as assigned by the Doctors or Clinic Coordinator
