General Outline of Responsibilities
- Carrier Sourcing & Capacity Management
- Source and secure qualified carriers for all assigned loads
- Build and maintain a reliable network of carriers by utilizing carrier networks, existing relationships, and load boards to efficiently cover freight
- Prioritize speed and accuracy in securing capacity to meet customer requirements
- Develop repeat carrier partnerships for consistent shipping regions
- Load Execution
- Execute approved loads from Account Executives
- Ensure all load details are clearly understood prior to contacting carriers
- Cover loads in a timely manner to meet customer deadlines and expectations
- Provide complete and accurate carrier details to Tracking & Trace / Operations teams after booking
- Ensure all load information is properly documented in internal systems
- Carrier Qualification & Compliance
- Verify carrier qualifications, including:
- Insurance compliance
- Safety ratings
- Verify carrier qualifications, including:
- Operating authority and eligibility
- Complete carrier setup and onboarding as needed
- Ensure all carriers meet company and customer standards
- Negotiation & Market Awareness
- Negotiate competitive rates with carriers to maximize profitability
- Balance cost control with service quality and reliability
- Stay informed on market trends, lane pricing, and capacity conditions
- Communicate market conditions and rate pressures to Account Executives
- Provide feedback to the team on market shifts impacting pricing or coverage
- Communication & Collaboration
- Work closely with Account Executives to align on load priorities and customer expectations
- Communicate any concerns related to pricing, load details, or feasibility prior to booking
- Collaborate with pod members to maintain load visibility and status updates
- Maintain professionalism and strong communication with carriers and internal teams
- Risk Management & Problem Solving
- Set clear expectations with carriers regarding pickup, delivery, and communication requirements
- Identify potential service risks such as capacity constraints, delays, or unreliable carriers
- Escalate issues to the Account Executive when customer impact is likely
- Assist in developing solutions to keep loads on track and minimize disruptions
