This role is responsible for translating marketing, brand, and business goals into high-performing, user-centered digital experiences that support PCMA’s global audiences, programs, and revenue streams.

Serving as both a strategic partner and hands-on leader, the Director oversees website development, optimization, and governance while actively collaborating with Marketing, Content, Events, Education, Membership, and IT teams. This role requires a strong balance of planning, execution, technical fluency, and operational accountability, ensuring digital initiatives are delivered on time, on brand, and with measurable impact.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Digital Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and execute PCMA’s digital and web strategy in alignment with Marketing & Communications priorities and organizational goals.

  • Translate business needs, campaign objectives, and audience insights into clear digital requirements, roadmaps, and deliverables.

  • Actively participate in the planning, build, testing, launch, and optimization of digital initiatives—not just oversight.

  • Support Marketing leadership with strategic recommendations grounded in execution realities and performance data.

Website & Platform Management

  • Manage PCMA’s website ecosystem, including corporate, event, education, and regional sites, ensuring performance, usability, and consistency.

  • Oversee and contribute to web development efforts including enhancements, page builds, integrations, and ongoing improvements.

  • Maintain CMS structure, workflows, templates, and content standards to enable efficient publishing and scalability.

  • Ensure sites meet best practices for accessibility, SEO, analytics, security, and privacy compliance.

User Experience, Content Integration & Optimization

  • Partner with content and marketing teams to design and implement digital experiences that support campaigns, registrations, and member engagement.

  • Work closely with the Digital Content Strategist to translate content strategy into effective digital experiences, including site architecture, page templates, content structure, and user journeys.

  • Collaborate on content modeling, taxonomy, and page design to ensure content is scalable, discoverable, and optimized for engagement and conversion.

  • Use analytics, testing, and user feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and implement optimizations.

  • Balance user experience best practices with business requirements and operational constraints.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work closely with internal teams to gather requirements, set priorities, and deliver digital solutions that meet business needs.

  • Define clear roles, responsibilities, and workflows between digital and content functions to ensure alignment across strategy, execution, and performance.

  • Manage external vendors and development partners, providing clear direction, feedback, and quality control.

  • Own timelines, scopes, and deliverables for digital projects, ensuring accountability and follow-through.

Measurement, Governance & Continuous Improvement

  • Define and monitor key digital performance metrics and use insights to inform ongoing improvements.

  • Establish and maintain digital governance standards, documentation, and processes.

  • Stay current on digital tools, platforms, and trends, applying practical innovations that improve efficiency and performance.
