The Director, Digital Strategy & Web Development leads the strategy, execution, and day-to-day management of PCMA’s digital and web presence. This role is responsible for translating marketing, brand, and business goals into high-performing, user-centered digital experiences that support PCMA’s global audiences, programs, and revenue streams.
Serving as both a strategic partner and hands-on leader, the Director oversees website development, optimization, and governance while actively collaborating with Marketing, Content, Events, Education, Membership, and IT teams. This role requires a strong balance of planning, execution, technical fluency, and operational accountability, ensuring digital initiatives are delivered on time, on brand, and with measurable impact.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Strategy & Execution
- Develop and execute PCMA’s digital and web strategy in alignment with Marketing & Communications priorities and organizational goals.
- Translate business needs, campaign objectives, and audience insights into clear digital requirements, roadmaps, and deliverables.
- Actively participate in the planning, build, testing, launch, and optimization of digital initiatives—not just oversight.
- Support Marketing leadership with strategic recommendations grounded in execution realities and performance data.
Website & Platform Management
- Manage PCMA’s website ecosystem, including corporate, event, education, and regional sites, ensuring performance, usability, and consistency.
- Oversee and contribute to web development efforts including enhancements, page builds, integrations, and ongoing improvements.
- Maintain CMS structure, workflows, templates, and content standards to enable efficient publishing and scalability.
- Ensure sites meet best practices for accessibility, SEO, analytics, security, and privacy compliance.
User Experience, Content Integration & Optimization
- Partner with content and marketing teams to design and implement digital experiences that support campaigns, registrations, and member engagement.
- Work closely with the Digital Content Strategist to translate content strategy into effective digital experiences, including site architecture, page templates, content structure, and user journeys.
- Collaborate on content modeling, taxonomy, and page design to ensure content is scalable, discoverable, and optimized for engagement and conversion.
- Use analytics, testing, and user feedback to identify opportunities for improvement and implement optimizations.
- Balance user experience best practices with business requirements and operational constraints.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Delivery
- Work closely with internal teams to gather requirements, set priorities, and deliver digital solutions that meet business needs.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and workflows between digital and content functions to ensure alignment across strategy, execution, and performance.
- Manage external vendors and development partners, providing clear direction, feedback, and quality control.
- Own timelines, scopes, and deliverables for digital projects, ensuring accountability and follow-through.
Measurement, Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Define and monitor key digital performance metrics and use insights to inform ongoing improvements.
- Establish and maintain digital governance standards, documentation, and processes.
- Stay current on digital tools, platforms, and trends, applying practical innovations that improve efficiency and performance.
