Your Role and Responsibilities
As a Special Education Paraprofessional at CLA/VPA, you’ll have the opportunity to:
- Support Students with Disabilities: Assist with classroom activities, including providing support during lessons, helping with individualized tasks, and reinforcing concepts for students with disabilities
- Collaborate with the Learning Specialist: Work directly with the Learning Specialist and other staff members to ensure students receive the individualized support they need
- Provide One-on-One or Small Group Instruction: Work with students individually or in small groups to reinforce learning concepts and assist with academic tasks
- Support Classroom Management: Help maintain a positive, safe, and structured learning environment for students
- Assist with Behavioral and Academic Support: Help implement behavior intervention plans and assist students in navigating academic tasks
- Assist with Documentation: Help track student progress and maintain accurate records for students with IEPs
- Participate in School Routines: Support daily school routines such as arrival, dismissal, lunch, recess, and other school activities

- Is Willing to Get CPI Trained: You are open to receiving CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) training to help support students in crisis situations and promote a safe classroom environment
- Is Patient and Compassionate: You show empathy and respect when working with students, fostering a positive learning environment
- Works Well in a Team: You collaborate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other staff members
- Has a Positive, Can-Do Attitude: You approach challenges with enthusiasm and are eager to learn and grow in a supportive school community
