Job Description

Kasson-Mantorville Schools has openings for bus and van drivers beginning April 2026.
Position can include a full route, an AM route, or a PM route.

Reports to: Transportation Director

Direct reports: None

Hours: AM/PM Bus Routes

Job Objective: Responsible for operating the school transit bus on assigned routes to and from school and special events; provides safe and secure transportation service to students.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, GED, or related experience and training is preferred.
  • Pass pre-employment testing (drug screen, background check, driving record check, and physical)
  • Valid CDL license with School Bus, Passenger, and Airbrakes endorsements; or willing to complete our in-house CDL training program.

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Drives students to and from school and special events in a safe, responsible manner.
  • Obeys all traffic laws and transportation practices.
  • Monitors students and enforces District policies and rules of conduct.
  • Reports behavior issues and other concerns to the supervisor.
  • Performs daily vehicle inspections as required by federal and state laws and assures the bus is operating correctly.
  • Performs daily trip and mileage log entry.
  • Conducts complete post-trip interior inspection of the school bus for remaining students before leaving the bus.
  • Inspects vehicles, and identifies vehicle problems requiring additional maintenance and repair.
  • Cleans the bus interior, sweeps the floors, and cleans windows and seats.
  • Attends all required training/professional development.
  • Attends Peaceful Bus curriculum days to build relationships with riders and school staff.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and Kasson-Mantorville Schools staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.
  • Enthusiastically promotes the District’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.
  • At times may be required to work outside normal business hours and work extended hours to accomplish requirements of the position.
  • Other duties or tasks may be assigned on an as-needed basis.
