The Independent Retailer Sales Representative will manage and grow independent accounts by maintaining strong relationships with current customers while identifying opportunities to expand the customer base. This role is ideal for a self-motivated, organized, and persuasive professional who thrives on building strong customer relationships, enjoys solving challenges, and balances proactive outreach with attentive account management. The representative will combine technical expertise with effective communication to ensure customer satisfaction and optimize product assortment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain and strengthen relationships with existing accounts, supporting product launches and ongoing inventory needs.
- Identify opportunities to grow the customer base through outreach, conventions, and new account development.
- Manage customer expectations for high-demand, allocated products, ensuring smooth order flow and timely communication.
- Upsell additional categories and products to expand stores’ consumer offerings and increase revenue.
- Monitor accounts receivable (A/R) and credit limits.
- Providing guidance on product features, usage, and best practices.
- Coordinate with internal teams, including warehouse and operations, to ensure accurate order fulfillment and timely delivery.
Qualifications:
- Experience in account management, sales, or customer-facing roles, preferably in retail, hobby, or related consumer products.
- Strong communication, relationship-building, and influencing skills.
- Ability to manage multiple accounts and priorities effectively.
- Comfortable with outreach and proactive business development.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to track A/R, credit limits, and product allocations.
- Technical aptitude and ability to educate customers on product offerings.
