Job Description

Con Edison, a multibillion-dollar energy utility, is leading the clean energy transition in New York City and Westchester County. We are investing hundreds of millions of dollars annually to integrate distributed resources into our electric and gas systems, support electric vehicle charging infrastructure, and scale adoption of energy efficiency and clean heating technologies across our customers.

The Clean Energy Senior Specialist, serving as a Deputy Program Manager for Con Edisons Commercial & Industrial (C&I) Energy Efficiency Program, plays a critical role in advancing energy efficiency initiatives and sustainability within Con Edison service territory. The Deputy Program Manager provides program leadership and operational oversight for the C&I Energy Efficiency Program, supporting the Program Manager in translating strategic, regulatory, and policy objectives into effective program delivery, while ensuring strong governance, fiscal discipline, stakeholder alignment, and achievement of energy savings and emissionsreduction goals.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Program Manager to develop and execute the C&I Energy Efficiency Program, supporting program strategy, annual planning, and delivery while meeting energy savings goals and costeffectiveness requirements.
  • Demonstrate characteristics critical for effective management including but not limited to leadership, initiative, customer focus, communications, decision-making, and job knowledge.
  • Assist the Program Manager with program budget tracking, forecasting, performance evaluation, and incentive expenditures, including analysis of participation, energy savings, electrification adoption, and emissions reductions.
  • Provide daytoday operational oversight to ensure program performance aligns with regulatory requirements, budgets, schedules, and performance targets.
  • Manage program workflows, proactively identifying and resolving bottlenecks and inefficiencies, while using data analytics to measure performance, identify trends, and recommend/implement process improvements.
  • Prepare and contribute to management reports, executive briefings, and regulatory filings.
  • Support issue identification, escalation, and resolution across internal teams and external partners.
  • Develop standards, tools, and processes to manage projects efficiently and resolve program inquiries quickly.
  • Resolve customer, vendor and contractor inquiries and complaints and minimize the escalation of issues.
  • Maintain working knowledge of large C&I building systems, energy efficiency measures, and electrification technologies to inform and make program decisions.
  • Lead crossfunctional discussions and coordinate initiatives with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders to support planning, design, and execution. Internal stakeholders may include engineering, regulatory, strategy, finance, IT, marketing, compliance, QAQC, evaluations, and customer engagement teams, while external partners span customers, trade allies, consultants, industry organizations, and technology providers.
  • Represent the program with external stakeholders and customers at local events and conferences, including speaking publicly on behalf of the Commercial & Industrial Program and the broader Energy Efficiency Department.
  • Manage, influence, and hold contractors, trade allies, and market partners accountable to ensure highquality and consistent program delivery.
  • Manage software used to administer and operate the programs and oversee data management and quality control.
  • Provide functional guidance and informal leadership, mentoring staff and crossfunctional partners while supporting onboarding, documentation, and knowledge transfer to build program continuity and organizational capability.
  • Provide QA/QC for operational and program processes; organize and implement peer-reviews and other quality checks on routine and non-routine procedures.
  • Perform other tasks and assignments as required.

Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and 3 years of work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Master's Degree in Business Administration, Operations/ Process Management, Economics, Engineering, System Administration/ Data Management, or related fields and 2 years of relevant work experience in clean energy or energy efficiency program delivery, supporting or leading complex, multistakeholder Large C&I initiatives within utility or publicpurpose settings.
Relevant Work Experience
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, required.
  • Experience and or knowledge in data management and or databases, required.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, required.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to identify, analyze, and resolve process and customer service related issues, required.
  • Ability to translate strategic objectives into actionable plans and measurable outcomes, required.
  • Ability to lead through collaboration and influence and to engage firmly and professionally in situations with limited prior interaction, required
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously, required.
  • Ability to manage ambiguity, shifting priorities, and evolving operational or regulatory requirements, required.
  • Experience and or knowledge of the fundamentals of energy modeling, analytics, and reporting, preferred.
  • Customer service experience, preferred.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in utility energy efficiency, demand management, or demand response programs, preferred.
  • Experience in program planning and administration and project management, preferred.
  • Experience planning, managing, coordinating, reviewing, and processing budgets and invoices, preferred.
  • Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or other relevant engineering experience, preferred.
  • Certification, experience, or training in Salesforce, preferred.
  • Ability to learn new database systems such as Oracle EBS, Hyperion Planning, business intelligence, work management, and CRM systems, preferred.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • The selected candidate will be assigned a System Emergency Assignment (i.e., an emergency response role) and will be expected to work non-business hours during emergencies, which may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Must be willing to travel inside and outside the Company service territory as needed.
