Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Provide process development and engineering design expertise for mineral processing projects. Use advanced knowledge and specialized training in the performance of thermodynamic, chemical, physical and hydrometallurgical analysis to develop systems and unit operations in accordance with contractual obligations and relevant codes and standards. Coordination with the Discipline Leads, Principals, Project Manager and Engineering Manager is necessary to achieve these requirements.
Senior Process Engineers may be assigned to projects as Study Manager, Project Engineer or Project Manager, at the discretion of the Manager of Projects Mining & Metals in consultation with the Manager and Chief Process Engineer.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Sr. Process Engineer IV
- Assistance in the preparation of capital cost estimates.
- Development of process equipment specifications and data sheets.
- Development of process operating cost estimates.
- Development of general arrangement drawings in consultation with plant layout designers and civil engineers and designers.
- Development of process flow diagrams, including mass balances.
Sr. Process Engineer III
- Development of process design criteria.
- Development of piping and instrumentation diagrams in consultation with piping and instrumentation engineers and designers.
- Development of process control philosophy in consultation with instrumentation engineers.
- Coordination with the Project Engineering Department and other engineering disciplines and departments.
- Development of models such as Metsim, Bruno, and JKSimMet.
Sr. Process Engineer II
- Metallurgical test work design and oversight and metallurgical data interpretation.
- Preparation of studies and reports, including certification as a Qualified Person (QP)
- Oversight and review of process deliverables from junior engineers
- Provides mentorship to junior engineers.
Sr. Process Engineer I
- Leads development and integration of high-level process control, flow design, and modeling strategies
- Oversees cross-discipline coordination and ensure process deliverables align with project objectives
Requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PER JOB LEVEL
- Sr. Process Engineer IV – Bachelor’s; Experience = 10 years min.; Licensure = PE License or QP Qualification
- Sr. Process Engineer III – Bachelors; Experience = 12 years min.; Licensure = PE license or QP Qualification
- Sr. Process Engineer II – Bachelors; Experience = 14 years min.; Licensure = PE license or QP Qualification
- Sr. Process Engineer I - Bachelors; Experience = 15 years min.; Licensure = PE license or QP Qualification
