 Primary Objective: We are seeking a highly skilled Plumber with experience in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining plumbing systems. While plumbing is the primary focus, this role also requires proficiency in basic HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance, along with general building maintenance tasks such as carpentry, electrical, and other facility repairs. This position plays a critical role in maintaining safe, functional, and comfortable environments across all school facilities. The role reports directly to the Facilities Coordinator.
 
Essential Functions:

  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain plumbing systems, including water supply, drainage, venting, fixtures, and piping (both commercial and residential-grade systems)
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections on plumbing systems to ensure proper operation and code compliance
  • Respond promptly to work orders and emergency plumbing issues
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain basic HVAC components such as thermostats, air filters, exhaust fans, and ventilation systems
  • Use diagnostic tools and building automation systems (BAS) to monitor and optimize HVAC performance (experience with BAS systems preferred)
  • Identify and resolve leaks, clogs, and other plumbing failures
  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including:
    • Carpentry: Minor repairs to doors, walls, ceilings, cabinetry, and fixtures 
    • Electrical: Replacing outlets, switches, lighting, and troubleshooting electrical components 
    • Plumbing: Repairing faucets, toilets, valves, piping, and drainage systems
  • Use diagnostic tools and plumbing/HVAC-specific equipment to identify issues
  • Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and facilities staff to coordinate repairs and maintenance
  • Maintain documentation of maintenance and repair activities
  • Manage materials, tools, and parts needed for plumbing, HVAC, and general repairs

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on service and troubleshooting experience in plumbing, with basic HVAC knowledge, in a commercial or institutional setting (e.g., schools, office buildings)
  • Proven ability to perform building maintenance tasks across carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and basic HVAC disciplines
  • Experience with plumbing codes, HVAC systems, and building automation systems preferred
  • Experience with CMMS programs to complete and generate work orders
  • Strong understanding of plumbing diagnostics and basic HVAC control systems
  • Must be able to:
    • Work safely at heights and in confined spaces
    • Endure physical tasks including standing, kneeling, lifting (up to 100 lbs), and working in extreme temperatures
    • Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively

Education and Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical/trade school preferred
  • Valid plumbing license or certification preferred
  • Additional certifications in electrical, HVAC, or carpentry trades are a plus
