Job Description

A Data & Analytics Engineer I is a on the Data Management Team responsible for supporting the development, maintenance, and delivery of enterprise data solutions. This role focuses on building foundational technical skills while contributing to data pipelines and reporting efforts. This position works closely with senior team members to ensure data solutions are reliable, accurate, and aligned with business needs.

Salary Grade (11)  63,994 - 81,592 - 99,191

This role follows data governance practices and contributes to consistent, high-quality data products across the organization. It combines hands-on data engineering work with an ability to understand business needs and deliver insights in reliable reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Data Engineering & Architecture

  • Build, and maintain data pipelines, data marts, and warehouse structures with low to moderate complexity to support analytic needs.
  • Write and maintain basic to intermediate SQL queries, views, and transformations.
  • Develop automated low complexity data verification in support of data governance policies.
  • Identify data issues and assist in root-cause analysis and process improvements.

Reporting & Analytics

  • Create and maintain standard and ad hoc reports and dashboards using enterprise data tools.
  • Understand basic business requirements to build data solutions that business clients need.
  • Perform basic testing and validation on reports and data solutions.
  • Provide basic support to business users for reports and data questions.
  • Collaborate with report owners to improve report usability and accuracy.

  • BS/BA degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 0-3 years of experience in data engineering, reporting, or business intelligence related roles.
  • Basic to intermediate SQL skills and familiarity with relational databases.
  • Exposure to data modeling, ETL development or data pipelines.
  • Familiarity with business intelligence reporting tools, such as Cognos, Power BI, or Tableau
  • Foundational understanding of data quality and data governance best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to communicate effectively clearly with team members.
  • Ability to manage assigned tasks and deliver high-quality work.
