Position Summary
The Director of Summer School is the academic and operational leader of Summer School run by The Peddie School and is responsible for both excellent day to day execution and strategic growth. This role requires a thinker and builder who will strengthen and evolve the program through innovation, data-informed decision-making, and strong leadership.
Summer at Peddie extends Peddie’s teaching and learning excellence while serving as a strategically important auxiliary program that generates meaningful revenue in support of the School’s mission. In close partnership with the Director of External Programs, the Director of The Peddie Summer School will set direction and drive results across marketing and enrollment strategy, program design and curriculum innovation, educational technology, pricing and program model decisions, external partnerships, and high-quality program delivery.
This is a part-time, but year-round leadership role with alternating phases of strategic planning, staffing and program build, operational readiness, and intensive on-site program leadership during program delivery - requiring strong project management, responsiveness, and the ability to execute at a high level during peak periods.

Core Responsibilities
- Strategy, Growth, and Program Development
- Lead an annual program review (enrollment, net revenue, feedback, outcomes) and define improvement priorities
- In partnership with Peddie’s Strategic Marketing and Communications department, develop and execute a strategy for Marketing and enrollment growth (positioning, outreach channels, partnerships, conversion)
- Program design and curriculum innovation (new offerings, schedule models, academic priorities)
- Implement Educational technology to strengthen teaching, learning, and family communication
- Collaborate with the Assistant Head for Finance and Operations to develop a pricing and program model strategy aligned to enrollment and financial goals
- Build a staffing strategy aligned to program goals; recruit, hire, onboard, and retain high-performing teachers and staff
- Use registration and capacity data to adjust sections, staffing, and schedules proactively
- Manage the program budget, payroll planning, and financial tracking; identify risks early and recommend corrective actions
- Finalize instructional materials and operational plans
- Maintain a disciplined planning cadence with clear milestones and stakeholder communication
- Operational Readiness and Launch
- Finalize staffing assignments, schedules, and classroom/office readiness using detailed checklists
- Order supplies and prepare materials; set up classrooms and program office operations
- Lead family communications and orientation; establish clear expectations, policies, and support resources
- Lead faculty/staff orientation and training, including grading standards and student support protocols
- Configure and manage SIS processes for communication, grading, and scheduling; ensure staff training and adoption
3. Program Delivery and Daily Operations
- Serve as the visible day-to-day leader; ensure a safe, organized, high-quality experience for students and families
- Manage daily operations, including staffing coverage, parent issues, student support/behavior response, and problem-solving
- Oversee grading, comments, academic reporting, and transcript preparation
- Maintain appropriate communication with partner schools/districts as needed
- Supervise assistant directors, deans, and office staff; delegate effectively and hold the team accountable
- Ensure stewardship of campus spaces and manage program closeout, reporting, and end-of-season improvements
Compensation
This part-time position is compensated with a salary ranging from $25,000 - $27,000. Internal candidates will also be eligible to receive a one class reduction in their teaching schedule for the winter and spring terms.
