Description/Role
| Position Description: • The Release Manager will oversee all aspects of software release planning and deployment to include allocation of operating environments, Release and Cutover Checklists, Change Management, and Go-No-Go decisions. • In collaboration with project team resources, the Release Manager will be responsible for ensuring System, Data, Stakeholder and Environmental Readiness prior to scheduled releases. • The Release Manager will work closely with the Chief product Owner and Test Manager and System Integrator to ensure traceability and alignment of releases with targeted features and stakeholder requirements. • The Release Manager will ensure that feature and maintenance releases are delivered as required by the business while maintaining the integrity of the existing production environment.
Duties/Responsibilities: • Assume ownership and continuous improvement of the release process by documenting release issues and developing plans to improve process or automation. • Develops Quality test on all releases and identifies deficiencies. • Ensure proper tracking of released components in version control. • Prepare release notes and communicate release progress/status. • Analytical and effectively able to troubleshoot and prioritize needs, requirements, and other issues. • Support configuration and change management activities required to maintain operating environments. • Partner closely with team define, execute, and manage a release management framework. • Identify, organize, and control software configuration changes. • Support and facilitate auditing and reporting. • Excellent communication skills in both written and oral communications. • In collaboration with project team resources, responsible for ensuring System, Data, Stakeholder and Environmental Readiness prior to scheduled releases.

Skills/Experience Required | Education & Skills: • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology, Information Management, or business, or five (5) years of comparable work experience with demonstrated experience managing formal SDLC methodologies and processes. • Three or more years of experience as a Release or Application Development Manager. • Experience with TFS, Azure DevOps server and Jenkins. • Manage and maintain the Information Technology Division Application Lifecycle Management tools (Smartsheets, JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint). • Awareness of State of Maryland organizational structure, major systems, and policies a big plus.
