Serves as Assistant Coach for the Youth Track and Field Program, supporting the Head Coach in organizing and conducting structured, engaging practices for young athletes. Assists with skill instruction, event-specific drills, athlete supervision, and meet preparation while helping foster a positive, inclusive, and team-oriented environment. This role plays an important part in motivating participants, reinforcing sportsmanship, and ensuring a safe, encouraging experience that helps each athlete grow in confidence and ability.

Position Duties

  • Assist in planning, developing and implementing the track program in accordance with TAAF (Texas Amateur Athletic Federation) and Hershey’s league policies and procedures.
  • Assist in training, instructing and supervising athletes in a variety of track skills and techniques; teaches rules, conduct and safety; provides a variety of guidance, instruction and experience to enhance athlete’s personal, physical and social growth and development.
  • Assist in planning and conducting regularly scheduled practice sessions.
  • Assist in coaching and supervising athletes during track meets.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain TX driver’s license within 90 days). 
  • First Aid and CPR certified.
  • Track & Field Experience.

Preferred:

  • Two years directly related experience.

Other Qualifications

Motivational, effective communication, behavior management skills with the ability to get along appropriately with co-workers and the public. Track coaching techniques; be familiar with track rules and regulations.
