About the Department
Administers, oversees, and implements all aspects (activities, programs, and events) of the daily operation of their assigned facility.
Position Duties
1. Manages large community, neighborhood, or other recreation center.
2. Directs activities of assigned workers.
3. Provides patrons with technical instruction and guidance in various arts, crafts, games, and other group activities.
4. Maintains order and discipline.
5. Initiates requests for recreation and athletic games and equipment, and for maintenance and repair work required to maintain recreational and athletic equipment.
6. May be required to maintain time and work records and to submit various reports.
7. Supervises subordinates in performing their duties.
8. Performs other duties as assigned or required.
Minimum Qualifications
1). High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution.
2). Bachelor's degree in recreation management or recreation field. Bachelor's degree may be substituted for four (4) years of experience in recreation programming.
3). Three (3) years of experience in recreation or public contact work including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
4). Organizational ability to plan, formulate and execute policies and programs; ability to maintain harmony among workers and patrons; communicate effectively; and flexibility to adapt to changing conditions.
5). Valid state driver's license at employment
Other Qualifications
Work Environment:
1. May work outside in all weather extremes.
2. May be exposed to insects, dirt, dust, construction debris, and rough and uneven terrain.
3. May work at heights, in confined spaces, remote locations, or in noisy work areas.
4. Will be required to wear safety protective gear when necessary.
Physical Demands:
1. Work is primarily performed in the community center.
2. Requires constant use of both hands in reaching, handling, grasping, fingering while performing duties and operating computers.
3. Occasional heavy work includes lifting, carrying, or moving up to 50 pounds. Occasionally ascends/descends stairs and other inclines while maintaining balance. Occasional bending, twisting, at knees, waist and neck.
4. Constant use of all senses, including feeling, talking, hearing, seeing, while performing duties and communicating with co-workers, general public, and completing all tasks as assigned.

Travel:
Local travel will be required occasionally to accomplish job assignments.
