Overview:

Purpose
The primary purpose of this position is to manage the training programs for Electric Distribution and Substation. This position is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of technical and compliance training for Electric Distribution employees, as well as the Qualification program.



Responsibilities:

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervises Technical Training department in the development and delivery of training to support the needs of the business and technical curriculums.
  • Regularly conducts a comprehensive training needs analysis in conjunction with Operations management to identify technical skill deficiencies; subsequently develops training courses/programs to address deficiencies and emerging issues.
  • Develops, implements, and oversees a long-range strategic technical training plan for Electric Distribution and Substation that includes a formalized program, on-the job training, and self-study.
    Continually measures the effectiveness of training and adjusts courses/programs accordingly.
    Ensures compliance training meets all KOSHA, OSHA, DOT and PSC and other regulatory requirements.
  • Contribute to department budget control through effective and efficient use of personnel, materials, tools, and equipment.


Qualifications:

Required Qualifications

 

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in safety, training, human resources, engineering or other related technical field, OR journeyman level experience in a relevant trade OR equivalent military training/rank.

Experience

  • 5+ years experience in safety, training or utility operations or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis is required. Utility experience is required.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of OSHA, KOSHA, PSC, DOT, NESC and regulatory requirements related to electric distribution.
    Familiarization with Instructional Systems Design (ISD) processes or willingness to learn the processes within the first year.

 

Work Conditions

  • Normal office environment; will travel to field sites.

Physical Effort

  • Primarily sitting with walking and visiting field sites.
