Summary
Canyon Ridge High School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our athletic program as a Varsity Volleyball Assistant Coach for the upcoming season. The ideal candidate will possess a strong knowledge of volleyball techniques, strategies, and team dynamics, and will work closely with the head coach to develop and implement effective training programs. This is a seasonal position that offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our student-athletes in a supportive and competitive environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist the head coach in planning and conducting daily practices, drills, and game strategies.
- Provide instruction and feedback to student-athletes on skills and techniques to enhance their performance.
- Help monitor the academic progress and personal development of team members, ensuring a balance between athletics and academics.
- Support the head coach in game day preparations, including warm-ups, strategy discussions, and player substitutions.
- Foster a positive team culture that emphasizes sportsmanship, respect, and teamwork.
- Communicate effectively with athletes, parents, and school administration regarding team activities and expectations.
- Assist in the recruitment and selection of team members, ensuring a fair and inclusive process.
- Attend all scheduled practices, games, and team meetings, demonstrating commitment and leadership.
- Collaborate with the head coach on the development of game schedules, travel arrangements, and team logistics.
Requirements
- Previous experience playing or coaching volleyball at the high school level or higher.
- Strong understanding of volleyball rules, strategies, and techniques.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a coaching team and contribute to a positive team environment.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred or must be obtained prior to the start of the season.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends for practices and games.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- A commitment to the academic and athletic success of student-athletes.
This is an “at will” position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.
