Lead Care Professional Job Description

Objective
Home Instead Lead Care Professionals provide a variety of non‑medical services that
allow seniors to remain in their homes. These services are meant to enhance the
quality of life for seniors. Care Professionals help clients and their families
meet the challenges of aging with dignity, pride, care, and compassion.
In addition to providing client care, the Lead Care Professional supports staffing
reliability by providing coverage for last‑minute shifts and assisting the
office with recruiting, onboarding, training, and caregiver support activities.
Primary Responsibilities –Field Coverage
•Provide coverage for last‑minute open shifts when staffing gaps occur
•Provide high‑quality companionship, home helper, and personal care services to
clients
•Provide introductions between new Care Professionals and clients when needed
•Provide transportation to/from shifts for Care Professionals in emergency
situations when needed
•Support difficult or transitional client cases when additional stability is
needed
•Maintain high standards of care and professionalism while representing Home
Instead
Care Professional Support
& Mentoring
•Provide peer-to-peer coaching and additional training for Care Professionals
who need support
•Assist with mentoring new Care Professionals in the field
•Support caregivers who may be struggling with specific care situations
•Maintain records of coaching or mentoring interactions
• Work with the Staffing Coordinator to mentor Care Professionals
HR & Recruiting Support
(Office Responsibilities)
When not covering shifts, the Lead Care Professional may assist with:
•Supporting caregiver recruiting efforts
•Interview participation
• New hire onboarding support
•Orientation and caregiver training assistance
•Tracking training completion and compliance requirements
• Data entry and documentation related to caregiver hiring and development
•General administrative support for the office
Work Schedule
•Full‑time position with a guaranteed minimum of 35 hours per week
• Hourswill include a combination of client shifts and office responsibilities
•Typical hours fall between 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM depending on operational needs
•Occasional additional hours may be required to ensure safe client coverage when
shifts run over
On‑Call Responsibilities
•Participate in on‑call rotation
•Typically one weekday on‑call shift per week
• Oneweekend on‑call rotation per month
•Respond to caregiver call‑offs and assist with urgent staffing needs
Care Professional Responsibilities
Companionship & Home Helper services may include:
•Companionship and conversation
•Assistance with walking and stabilization
• Meal preparation and clean up
•Medication and appointment reminders
• Light housekeeping
•Laundry assistance
•Errands and transportation to appointments
Personal Care services may include:
•Bathing and grooming assistance
•Toileting and incontinence care
Specialized Services may include:
•Advanced Alzheimer’s/Dementia care
•Hospice support
Secondary Responsibilities
•Complete required online training
•Participate in Care Professional meetings and company training
•Report hours according to office policy
•Perform other reasonable duties as assigned
Essential Job Requirements
•Ability to learn online training systems
•Ability to lift, push, or pull 25 pounds
•Ability to bend, twist, stoop, kneel, and reach
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
•Ability to treat clients and their property with dignity and respect
•Ability to adapt to different home environments
•Strong communication skills

- 8 hour shift
