SUMMARY OF POSITION:


The Planning Manager, will be responsible for planning, organizing and controlling the flow of production parts to support scheduling of orders and services in support of established and scheduled customer commitments. Individual will manage the Planning Team and work closely with purchasing, engineering, quality and inventory control staff. Standard duties for the position include, but aren't limited to, the following:


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Manage/ Coordinate the following items:
  • Process timely release of shop orders in quantities that supports upper level demand
  • Generate and respond to the various ERP/MRP reporting systems in a timely manner to insure due dates and priorities are properly defined for the shop floor or procurement staff
  • Maintain weekly/ monthly production schedule for manufacturing facility and execute the subsequent MRP cycles where applicable to support the schedules
  • Utilize various tools available to review and coordinate efforts needed to support required start and completion dates of components.
  • Assist program management with purchase requisitions for materials/services as needed.
  • Schedule and manage meetings with manufacturing partners in U.S. and/or globally as required, reducing and eliminating shortages
  • Insure MRP fixed lead times are reviewed and balanced against corresponding routing lead times and adjusted as required
  • Define, monitor and adjust planning as conditions in the manufacturing process or demand stream changes
  • Notify interfacing departments to effect corrections to system that have resulted in invalid outputs, particularly those affecting shop load and scheduling
  • Participate in production meetings and presentations as directed by department program and upper management.


EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • Undergraduate degree and/or technical associate degree with Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations and Planning courses a plus
  • 5-10 years management experience. Manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Minimum five years as a Planner/Scheduler with a tangible product.
  • 5 years’ experience with a computerized ERP/MRP or equivalent scheduling system, experience with Epicor Vantage or SAP a plus

  • Able to read and understand engineering drawings, blueprints and Bill of Materials
  • Proven track record of exceeding customer expectations.
  • Self-motivated to excel, act upon and achieve best possible results
