Position Summary
The Summer Camp Sports Instructor is responsible for leading fun, safe, and engaging sports, games, and physical activities for campers in Kindergarten through 8th grade. This role is scheduled three days per week and requires the instructor to plan and run age-appropriate activities that promote teamwork, sportsmanship, physical fitness, and confidence. The ideal candidate is energetic, organized, and skilled at managing groups while keeping campers active and included.

Season Dates: June 22 through August 21
Work Days: Varies (Monday - Friday)
Hours: Varies based on camp schedule
Key Responsibilities
Plan and lead a variety of sports, games, and group physical activities for campers in K–8th grade
Adapt activities for different ages, skill levels, and abilities to ensure full participation
Teach and reinforce basic skills, rules, teamwork, and good sportsmanship
Organize daily activity rotations (team games, relays, skill stations, cooperative games, etc.)
Set up and break down equipment and maintain safe play areas
Supervise campers closely during all activities and transitions
Ensure activities follow camp safety expectations, including hydration and weather precautions
Maintain positive behavior management and encourage respectful participation
Communicate equipment/supply needs to camp leadership in advance
Support camp-wide events such as field days, tournaments, theme days, or special challenges
Follow all program policies related to supervision, safety, and child protection
Desired Skills & Qualifications
Experience working with children in grades K–8 (camp, school, coaching, recreation, etc.)
Knowledge of a variety of sports and group games (indoor and outdoor)
Ability to lead large groups and keep activities organized, safe, and fun
Strong communication skills and positive leadership style
Ability to motivate campers and manage behavior appropriately
Flexibility to adjust activities based on weather, space, and camper needs

Activities are well-organized, inclusive, and age-appropriate
Positive camper behavior and sportsmanship are consistently reinforced
Equipment is maintained and spaces are left clean and ready for use
