Position Overview:
The patient account specialist performs various patient facing tasks including but
not limited to, verifying medical insurance benefits for various patient treatments,
verifying patient balances, preparing patient statements and collection of patient
payments. Calling patients to update payment. Collecting patient responsibilities.
This role requires a strong understanding of insurance benefits, excellent
communication skills, and strong critical thinking skills to interpret, identify, and
address or resolve any matters that may arise that affect timely reimbursement and
patient inquiries.
The hours for this position will be 10:00AM to 6:30PM
Responsibilities:
● Assist patients by clearly explaining how their insurance coverage works and
addressing any questions they may have regarding their benefits.
● Audit, prepare, and distribute accurate patient statements.
● Process and post balances such as cash payments, copays, coinsurance, and
deductibles
● Contact patients to collect payments, update payment information, and
arrange payment plans
● Respond to patient inquiries regarding billing discrepancies in a timely
fashion
● Review patient accounts to identify individuals who may be unable to
continue receiving care due to outstanding balances and communicate with
departments to discontinue care or assist in obtaining payment.
● Proactively identify potential billing or service issues by auditing patient
accounts ahead of scheduled appointments, ensuring all required coverage
details, patient information, and documentation are complete and accessible
in Tebra.
● Maintain records of all patient interactions in the billing system for continuity
of communication.
● Approach all patient interactions with the utmost care and respect,
recognizing the sensitivity of mental health care.
● Uphold company values by providing compassionate, clear, and supportive
communication, understanding that patients may feel anxious about their
billing.
● Provide clear communication to patients via phone, email, or the patient's
preferred method.

Requirements:
● High school diploma or GED
● Exceptional customer service skills
● Effective communication skills
● Excellent organizational skills
● Detail-oriented
● Experience in a healthcare related field, specifically insurance eligibility
verification or collection of accounts receivable preferred, with a minimum of 2
years
