New Alternatives for Children, Inc. (NAC), located in midtown Manhattan, is an award-winning not-for-profit agency dedicated to serving children and families with medical complexities, chronic illnesses, and disabilities throughout the five boroughs. To assist in achieving this mission, NAC is currently seeking a Case Associate to join its Specialized Family Foster Care Program.
The team in the foster care department works with children, families and foster families to ensure safety, permanency and well-being for youth in foster care. The case associate is a critical member of the foster care team assisting social workers with various case work activities, including supervising visits at our Manhattan office location and in the community, escorting children to and from visits and appointments, conducting home visits, and reporting information to the case planning team both verbally and by documenting all activities in a state wide electronic case record data base. The per diem case associate should be available to work Monday - Friday from 3 to 7pm.

Responsibilities:
- Supervise family visits in the office, in the community, and virtually, acting as a visiting coach promoting quality family time and ensuring safety.
- Transport children as needed.
- Conduct foster home visits, visits to birth homes and other field visits.
- Assist social workers with necessary phone contacts to arrange appointments to make referrals for concrete services.
- Accompany and advocate for parents at appointments for public benefits, housing, and other necessary services.
- Visit schools to discuss educational progress of children with teachers and other school personnel.
- Provide other assistance, as might reasonably be required, to support case management and permanency efforts for families with children in foster care.
- Document all work activities within prescribed timeframes in the electronic case record.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree; BSW preferred
Required Skills:
- Prior experience working with families in a child welfare setting preferred
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal and engagement skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
- Bilingual Spanish is preferred
