What You’ll Do

As the Corporate Counsel, you will proactively assist with the assessment and management the legal affairs of Dyno Nobel LATAM, with a primary focus on labor and employment and governance matters. The role will assist with all legal matters across Dyno Nobel LATAM. Provide strong leadership and counsel these parts of the business. Other duties will include:

  • Ensure compliance with applicable IPL Standards, together with legal and regulatory requirements.

  • Support (and lead when necessary) interactions and negotiations with applicable labour unions, including CBA negotiations, employee disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Assist with management of regulatory claims and proceedings, and internal and external investigations, with efficient use of internal resources and external counsel.

  • Participate as a member of the LATAM Leadership Team in providing governance and direction to the Dyno Nobel LATAM business.

  • Provide training to Dyno Nobel LATAM employees regarding IPL’s governance standards, policies, and programs.  Working with finance, assure compliance with the standards, policies, and programs.   

  • Provide legal support for various projects as required.
  • Respond professionally and timely to address legal and commercial issues and business requests.

  • Excellent judgment and the ability to comfortably make clear, rational, and timely decisions in the best interests of Dyno Nobel consistent with available facts and applicable laws and regulations.
  • Ability to gather and analyze all facts necessary to make sound business judgment.
  • A strong work ethic, together with the ability to consistently maintain high service, quality, responsiveness, efficiency and professional ethical standards.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Legal degree from an appropriately accredited university
  • All applicable licenses and permissions to practice law in place and current
  • 5-10 years experience in relevant areas including corporate governance and labour and employment
  • Strong preference given to experience with governance in conjunction with publicly-listed companies
  • Experience with labour unions required
  • Ability to work with flexibility, efficiency, enthusiasm and diplomacy both individually and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Proficiency in English required. Portuguese is strongly preferred. 
  • Positive attitude, friendly demeanor, and a team player
