Job Purpose

  • Associate will contribute to the overall mission and goals of HDMA by establishing and maintaining the core facility partnerships available for product development in North America at the Honda Proving Center (HPC).
  • Awareness, scheduling, and utilizing these facilities should have a top-level user experience.  This activity will include leading improvements to our current processes to increase efficiency and understanding what is required to use and reserve each facility.  
  • With this facility knowledge, the associate will be a core influencer during investigations of future facility needs with the function groups to ensure that NA developments will be able to be completed efficiently and effectively.

Key Accountabilities

  • Primary Contact for Honda Facility Users:
    • Develop, correlate, and implement test program requirements with Honda Function groups from all Honda companies
    • Manages all aspects of program requests including but not limited to technician support, equipment needs, office space, shipping/receiving, storage, and track usage.
    • Lead all record keeping required by HPC for testing and billing purposes. 
  • Lead HPC Test Support Functions:
    • Development and execution of methods & requirements for preventative maintenance, periodic inspections, and required calibration for all equipment as needed for certification testing.
    • Manages shop and equipment, provide and document orientation for HPC customers and visitors for Tests Courses and Shop access.
    • Leader of HPC Webpage, HLC (Honda Learning Center) portal, and SharePoint site.
    • Manages test technicians, shop equipment, supplies, and Honda Dealer Network.
    • Lead the shipping and receiving responsibilities.
    • Maintain appropriate certifications for compliance related to Customs and Trade Partnership Against Terrorism program with shipping/receiving regulations.
    • Retain records of incoming and outgoing items as required for compliance.
  • Budget Management / Purchasing / Billing:
    • Creates Budget required to run HPC including current Ki (fiscal year) and long term forecasting.
    • Reconcile budget vs. actual, run, present reports monthly, and quarterly to Dept Management
    • Lead budget modification proposals within HPC in order to meet budget as required.
    • Process and track request for goods and services.
    • Research and propose vendors.
    • Process new vendor requests ensure compliance with contract, NDAs & COIs.
  • Capital Investment Project Lead:
    • Site representative for HPC for Capital Investment.
    • Lead projects from concept, approval to completion.
    • Coordinates with functions groups / stake holders to ensure projects meet requirements.
    • Manages projects and provides project reports to Investment Committee and Executives

Key Accountabilities (Contd.)

  • Non-Honda (Third-Party) Facility Usage Primary Contact:
    • Lead Communication with customers regarding facility use request.
    • Lead correlation with HDMA management and legal to negotiate third-party contacts ensuring compliance of all terms and conditions.
    • Create and execute pricing model for track, building, and equipment usage / rentals.
    • Validate and billing of third-party facility users.
    • Ensure HPC billing practices are compliant with corporate policies and procedures.
    • Create and propose the plan for expanded 3rd party use of HPC including but not limited to the business proposal, facility needs, and billing process.
  • Manage the daily activities of assigned auxiliary staff:
    • Assign the daily activities including, but not limited to, administrative support, team escorts, shipping/receiving, and vehicle maintenance to maximize resources of the HPC Team.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

  • Minimum Educational Qualifications:
    • A Bachelor's or equivalent academic degree / diploma in the field of Engineering / Technology / Accounting or Business Management or, equivalent level of relevant work experience.
  • Minimum work experience:
    • At least 8 or more years in a position responsible for product research & development, including 2 years as project lead responsible for administering policies & procedures
    • Including 2 years as First Responder of other Emergency Response position.
  • Other job-specific skills and highly desirables (as many):
    • Prior experience working in automotive or aerospace industry will be an asset.
    • Basic Microsoft Suite programs
    • First Aid – First Responder training.
    • OSHA - General Industry
    • Driver / Rider certification
    • Dangerous Goods Shipping certification
    • SAP / Ariba or other Enterprise Accounting Principles.
