Summary
Grand Ledge High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to support students in the Resource Room. This full-time position involves working with students who require individualized assistance to succeed academically and socially. The ideal candidate will create a supportive and inclusive environment, fostering student growth and development while collaborating with teachers, parents, and support staff.
Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small group instruction to students with diverse learning needs.
- Develop and implement tailored educational plans (IEPs) in collaboration with special education staff and other educators.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instructional strategies as needed.
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and self-advocacy.
- Collaborate with general education teachers to adapt lessons and materials for students in the Resource Room.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student achievements and areas for improvement.
- Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance instructional practices and stay current with educational trends.
- Assist in the training and supervision of paraprofessionals and support staff as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and district regulations regarding special education services.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
- Valid teaching certification in Special Education, Emotionally Impaired Endorsement Preferred.
- Experience working with high school students with diverse learning needs, preferably in a resource room setting.
- Strong understanding of individualized education programs (IEPs) and special education laws.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators, administrators, and support staff.
- Proficient in utilizing technology and educational software to enhance learning.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively and implement positive behavior support strategies.
