Description: 


Forest Area Community Schools is seeking an elementary  teacher.  Forest Area Community Schools is a small district in northern Michigan which serves around 500 students, PreK-12, in the communities of Fife Lake and South Boardman. 


Duties and responsibilities: 



  • Plan and implement activities to meet the academic, social, and emotional needs of students 

  • Develop weekly lesson plans utilizing district provided curriculum 

  • Help maintain and assist in the establishment of good school-community relations 

  • Regularly inform parents of program expectations, activities, and their child’s progress 

  • Be an active team member within a grade level PLC to assist in making data-driven decisions 

  • Be familiar with emergency procedures 

  • Assist administration in the implementation of school and board policies 


Qualifications: 



  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree with valid Michigan Elementary Teaching Certificate 

  • Knowledge of requirements of state and federal mandates 

  • Experience highly preferred 

  • Ability to work well within a team environment 

  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written 

  • Student-focused approach
