Job Description

 JOB SUMMARY:

Works in conjunction with the Administrative Team (President/CEO, VP of Programs and Services, Children’s and Adult Directors, VP of Facility Management and Development, Nurse/ Health and Safety Director, Assessment Specialists, Behavioral Specialist, Quality Assurance and Training Specialist, Family Support Manager) to ensure all aspects of the program development and delivery are consistent with ESWG’s mission. Works with the Administrative Team to ensure planning, implementation, evaluation, and quality assurance are in accordance with standard operating procedures and the Department of Behavioral Health Developmental Disabilities/ Child Care Licensing standards and any accrediting organization of ESWG’s programs. 

 

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1.    Administers all medications as needed.

 

2.    Works with the Administrative Team to ensure program development and delivery are consistent with the ESWG’s mission.

A.   Maintains adequate records of service programs, which may include:

·        Ensuring medication forms remain updated.

·        Ensuring medical information for participants is in the main file.

 

B.   May provide and/or coordinate safety/medical in-services for staff (i.e., body mechanics, understanding disabilities, hygiene, emergency medication, etc.)

 

C.   Assists Health and Safety Director with conducting monthly safety checks.

 

D.   Reviews and ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures.

 

E.   Brings any and all safety/ medical concerns to the attention of the Health and Safety Director, VP of Programs and Services or the CEO.

 

F.   Provides guidance and assistance on an itinerant basis in the classrooms as needed.

 

G.   Assists Health and Safety Director with providing training and information on disabilities in assigned classroom.

 

H.   Researches safety/ medical information and materials, as needed.

 

3.    Advises Nurse and VP of Programs and Services on activities within classrooms affecting program objectives, staff and relationships with parents and the public.

 

4.    Reports any problems relating to potential Easterseals’ liability; any accidents the clients incur; any problems with staff, parents or the public to the CEO, Nurse/ Health and Safety Director or VP of Programs and Services.

 

5.    Reports any evidence of child/ adult neglect and/or abuse to the CEO and Administrative Team for further investigation and possible reporting. 

 

6.    Respects and preserves the dignity, personal safety and confidentially of all persons served by or employed by ESWG.

 

7.    Reports any needed maintenance to the CEO, Health and Safety Director, VP of Programs and Services or VP of Facility Management and Development for building or grounds.

 

8.    Works with state & local community agencies, school systems, and health professionals as liaison for this program.

 

9.    Assists the Administrative Team in ensuring that ESWG meets all licensing requirements and accreditation standards.  Maintains and complies with all municipal, state, and federal regulations.

 

10. Conducts employee medical screening, as needed.

 

11. Maintains current certification in First Aid, CPR and CPI.

 

12. Successfully completes at least 20 hours of training per year. 

 

13. Performs other duties as requested or assigned.

 

 

WORKING EXPECTATIONS: 

·        Participants are supervised at all times. Under no circumstances are participants to be left unattended.

·        Staff will always exercise professionalism in the presence of participants, visitors, and other staff. 

·        Staff will ensure that all activities and conversations are always geared toward what is appropriate.

·        To ensure quality of services provided, staff are expected to receive a rating of 20 (meets expectation) or higher on all performance reviews. Scoring under 20 will result in the staff member being placed on a 1-3 month probation until the level of quality is improved or termination may result.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

·        Associates or bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Nursing.

·        Current Georgia LPN or RN license.

·        Two-year experience working with children & adults in rehabilitation, classroom, and/or related nursing experience.

·        Good interpersonal and organizational skills.

·        Communicate well orally and in writing.

·        Interpret and carry out written and oral instructions.
