Job Description

Pay Rate: $17.50/hour

Employment Period: Must be available to work in person Summer 2022-Spring 2023.

Summer 2022 hours: Up to 21.5 hours per week between 9:00am-5:00pm on Mondays, Wednesdays, and/or Thursdays.

Fall 2022-Spring 2023: Up to 19.5 hours per week (average of 5-10 hours per week) between 9:00am-5:00pm Mondays through Fridays.

 

Position Overview

Peer Advisor Student Assistants will work closely with the Student Success Team to provide individual and group advising assistance to undergraduate students in the UW Bothell School of Business. In addition, Peer Advisor Student Assistants will staff the reception desk in the UW1-381 School of Business suite and perform clerical duties as needed.

Our Student Success Team is made up of advisors, staff and administrators who cultivate a welcoming, equitable, and holistic experience for School of Business admitted and prospective students. Together the Team operates and supports Undergraduate and Graduate program objectives in ways that honor diverse student identities. Their work includes advising, planning events, developing co-curricular programming, and collaborating with faculty and other campus partners. The Student Success Team provides ethical and caring guidance to enhance students’ personal, academic, and professional journeys in becoming business-minded individuals and leaders.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the School of Business Student Success Team in varied duties involving a high degree of responsibility and independent judgement.
  • Staff the reception desk for in-person and virtual drop-in advising services.
  • Provide referrals to Student Success Team staff and campus resources such as Financial Aid, Career Services, and Academic Success Coaching.
  • Answer multi-line telephones, transfer calls, and return voicemails.
  • Respond to student emails.
  • Assist with orientations, advising workshops, and student retention/recruitment events.
  • Maintain and update student records.
  • Create and maintain Google and Microsoft documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Assist with processing petitions.
  • Perform basic office duties such as copying/scanning documents, sorting and distributing mail and inventorying office supplies.

COVID-19 Vaccination Requirements

Governor Inslee's Proclamation 21-14.2 requires employees (including student employees) of higher education and healthcare institutions to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless a medical or religious exemption is approved. Being fully vaccinated means that an individual is at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. All new student employees must also complete UW's online Title IX course about preventing and responding to sex-and gender-based violence and harassment.


 

  • Current UW Bothell student
  • Completed at least 3 core requirements in the UW Bothell School of Business.
  • Enrolled in 6 or more undergraduate credits in Autumn quarter 2022
  • In good academic standing with at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.
  • Available to work Summer 2022 through June 2023 and graduate no earlier than June 2023.
  • Contribute professionally and respectfully to our diverse and inclusive work environment.
  • Reliable and able to work independently.
  • Sufficiently skilled at creating and maintaining Microsoft and Google documents, spreadsheets, and presentations.
  • Capacity for discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Previous experience in related settings and activities desirable (e.g. office work, customer service, resident advisor, student leadership, youth camp counselor, coaching, etcetera).
