Job Description
Saint Mary’s Hall anticipates hiring an outstanding full-time Lower School STEM Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. Join our team as a Lower School STEM teacher at Saint Mary’s Hall as we launch our new STEM lab.

Qualified Candidates will have the following:

• B.A./B.S. degree in Education and/or STEM; and advanced degree(s) preferred, Master’s a plus.
• At least 3 years’ experience teaching elementary Science/STEM.
• Knowledge of the NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards), 21st century skills, and/or standards-based frameworks for developing curriculum.
• Experience designing and incorporating student-centered, interdisciplinary STEM lessons through active, experiential, and project-based learning.
• A deep understanding of design thinking practices as they apply to STEM.
• Experience with 3D printers, robotics, coding, programming, engineering challenges, inquiry, and problem-solving.
• Experience scaffolding lessons appropriately and providing intervention, enrichment, and incorporating differentiation to meet student needs.
• Clear understanding and ability to support elementary school developmental stages, and a willingness to support and challenge students accordingly.
• Growth mindset and ability to create a space for students to explore and wonder
• Excellent classroom management skills.
• Ability to work and communicate effectively with culturally diverse students, parents, and colleagues.
• Responsive Classroom experience is a plus.

Essential Functions:

• Work with administration on the continual refinement and improvement of the Lower School STEM curriculum and related events.
• Coach the Lower School Robotics Team, which will meet twice a week.
• Maintain ongoing communication with parents regarding a child’s specific needs
• Seek and attend professional development to enhance Lower School practices and enrich the classroom.
• Assist with other projects, programs, and planning as assigned by the Head of Lower School.
• Provide a warm and inviting classroom community that promotes a positive and productive learning environment.
• Collaborate effectively with homeroom teachers to create hands-on extensions of classroom lessons for Kindergarten – Form 3 students.
• Collaborate with Montessori, Form 4, and Form 5 teachers to help with STEM integration into their classroom spaces.
• Design age-appropriate, inquiry-based STEM lessons using the latest in innovative STEM practices.
• Refine the STEM scope and sequence on an annual basis.
• Develop and facilitate STEM education for Lower School faculty and administration.
• Select and utilize resources and language that represent a wide range of identities in daily lessons.
• Implement classroom management strategies to promote a positive classroom environment.
• Implement inquiry-based teaching and learning practices

• Facilitate Collaboration among Students during small group and partner projects
• Collaborate with the Lower School Science Curriculum Coordinator to maintain an ongoing curriculum map for Lower School STEM.
• Attend and participate actively in faculty meetings, professional development days, whole school meetings, grade-Level team meetings, and Lower School events as needed.
• Track and assess student progress by communicating with classroom teachers and parents as needed.
• Provide information on individual student progress quarterly on report cards and through parent-teacher conferences.
• Plan and attend content-aligned field trips.
• Perform assigned, ongoing scheduled responsibilities with care(carpool duty. Luch duty, dismissal)
• Assist with Lower School STEM Night.

• Ability to build and foster positive, professional relationships with parents.
• Ability to implement and promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging practices
• Positive ambassador for Saint Mary’s Hall in the larger community.
• To be able to meet the demands and challenges of a fast-paced work environment and demonstrate flexibility as needed.
• Possess a good working knowledge of and/or a familiarity with a variety of instructional technology, such as Windows applications, iPad integration, interactive whiteboard, and student portfolio applications, and a willingness to implement new instructional technology initiatives.
• Track and assess student progress by communicating with classroom teachers and parents as needed.
• Provide information on individual student progress quarterly on report cards and through parent-teacher conferences.

Additional Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the care and maintenance of a clean, orderly, and organized STEM Lab.
• Responsible for the safety and physical well-being of the students at all times.
• Exhibit a professional manner and appearance.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

• Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
• May work at a desk and computer for extended periods
• May occasionally work events, nights, or weekends
• Must be able to teach, instruct, and communicate with students, parents, coworkers, visitors, and other professionals
• Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment
• Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
