Job Description

We are currently recruiting for Tooling/Mechanical Design Engineers to support one of our Aerospace customers with a role to support and develop Tooling solutions on a wide variety of projects for complex systems. The hourly rate is negotiable based on experience, seniority, etc. The contract can be for sub-contract labour but staff positions are available for the right candidates. The successful candidates will play a key role in delivering a high-quality service to our client and will be expected to be proactive and self-motivated in delivering the targeted outputs to support the product.

 

The Engineers will report directly to the Programme Delivery Leader (PDL) and their role will involve them to be based at our Client's site. Working within the ME team in our Aero Business Unit, successful candidates will join our experienced team, with whom you will work on varied projects in high-tech and future-oriented industries taking on exciting and responsible tasks according to your skills and knowledge, thus expanding your existing know-how.

  • The role will be to develop & manage current production processes to improve Quality, Cost &Time whilst supporting planning and the introduction of new products and processes.
  • Good CAD knowledge in creating both 2D and 3D manufacturing data sets. (Modelling/detail drawings/Bill of Materials)
  • Liaise with ‘in-house’ production to fully understand the end requirement and function.
  • Create Tooling specification and requirements document.
  • Liaise with and support design and manufacture supply chain.
  • Attend design reviews, ‘Factory Acceptance Tests’ (FAT), ‘Site Acceptance Tests’ (SAT) and Tool trials where required.
  • Engineering Degree or equivalent, with proven practical Engineering & manufacturing knowledge and experience
  • Candidates without accredited qualifications will be considered depending upon experience
  • Experience in using Catia

  • Experience of operating in an environment employing development techniques such as FMEA, DFA, DFM etc

  • Experience of developing manufacturing tooling and mechanical handling equipment from initial concept to production of 2D drawings

  • Ability to understand the customer needs to develop a design solution

  • Proactive ‘Team Player’ with a focus on delivery and quality who is able to work and act autonomously
  • Ability to liaise at all levels of the business management levels
  • Excellent communication skills and decision maker
  • Knowledge of Tooling and Production processes
  • Practical problem solving and communication skills

  • Experience of Manufacturing Processes and standards.
  • Experience defining or updating inspection processes is highly desirable.
  • Several years of professional experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Aerospace & Defence experience preferable but Marine & Automotive will be considered.
