In this position, you will be supporting the setup and validation testing of high voltage components, such as inverters and on-board chargers. This includes testing these components using internally designed stations, chillers, chambers, vibration tables, and various instrumentation and sensors. Other responsibilities include performing basic fabrication tasks for mechanical and electrical equipment to ensure optimal testing conditions.
- Set up and run development and validation tests (thermal, vibration, humidity, corrosion, electrical performance) on High Voltage Power Electronics
- Document test results and provide test reports
- Support the technical root cause and resolution of issues found during testing
- Select and install instrumentation needed to collect response data from the test item during testing (accelerometers, strain gauges, pressure gauges, thermocouples, voltage sense leads, etc.)
- Utilize standard test equipment such as power supplies, oscilloscopes, multimeters, and flowmeters with no direction
- Fabricate special test equipment, such as harnesses and cooling carts, to support validation testing
- Support the design and fabrication of simple mechanical fixtures, jigs, and harnesses
- Ability to use MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio
- Technical degree in electronics or mechanics preferred.
- 8+ years of experience with environmental validation testing
- 5+ years of experience fabricating special electronic test equipment and test harnesses.
- Experience working with high voltage and an understanding of high voltage safety practices.
- Experience using common machine shop equipment preferred.
- Soldering skill preferred.
- Understand how to read electrical schematics and use manufacturers’ product data sheets.
- High level of interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced development environment.
- Willing to work flexible hours and passionate about getting jobs done.
- Ability to support testing at outside testing facilities.
- Hands-on approach: Proactively identifies and fills in gaps where needed.
The salary range for this role is USD 37.42/hr - 46.77/hr for Southern California based applicants. This is the lowest to highest salary we in good faith believe we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on several factors, including, but not limited to, specific competencies, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, and organizational needs.
The successful candidate may be eligible for annual performance bonus and equity awards.
