As a Charge Nurse for our Stepdown Unit, you will play a crucial leadership role in managing unit operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care. This position acts as a bridge between the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and general Med-Surg, overseeing a clinical environment that requires heightened observation and specialized technical skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership: Supervise the nursing team on an 18-bed unit, ensuring safe patient-to-nurse ratios (goal 1:3).
- Unit Management: Coordinate patient flow, including admissions and discharges for a diverse population (post-cath lab, surgical recovery, and complex medical cases).
- Technical Oversight: Provide expertise in managing life-sustaining equipment, cardiac monitors, chest tubes, arterial lines, and titrated medication drips.
- Staff Support: Act as a resource for critical thinking and time management, supported by a dedicated team of ancillary staff.
