    Lake Forest School District 67 is seeking a full-time Elementary Teacher (K-4) at Cherokee Elementary School for the 2026-2027 School Year.

    Description: The classroom teacher will provide high-quality, differentiated instruction to students, fostering a positive and inclusive environment in all learning settings. The teacher will be responsible for planning, assessing, and instructing students based on Illinois Learning Standards, communicating with families, collaborating with colleagues, and growing professionally. 


    Salary: Per LFEA CBA

    Qualifications: 
    Education, Experience, and Licensure (required and preferred):

    • Bachelor's Degree
    • Current State of Illinois teaching certificate with appropriate endorsements

    Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):

    • The classroom teacher must possess the ability to work tactfully and effectively with the students, teachers, administrators, other employees of the school district, and the public in accomplishing the purpose of this position.
    • He/she must display evidence of an educational philosophy in agreement with that of the school and district.
    • He/she should display an understanding of those theories of learning most closely associated with the district's present educational program.
    • He/she must display an ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents.


    Essentials Functions

    • Utilize knowledge of students' backgrounds, child development, learning processes, subject area content, interdisciplinary connections and instructional practices to create differentiated lessons
    • Create and implement formative and summative assessments that are congruent with instructional outcomes, include clear criteria and standards, and inform subsequent instruction
    • Foster a classroom culture focused on high levels of learning and mutual respect that promotes a sense of belonging for all students
    • Develop purposeful classroom procedures, establish clear expectations for student behavior, and consistently monitor and respond to student conduct in a fair, respectful, and affirming manner
    • Provide clear and accurate explanations of content using intellectually engaging activities and strategies
    • Maintain records reflecting student progress in learning and non-instructional records as required by school policy and state law.
    • Communicate regularly and respectfully with families about the instructional program, individual student progress, and ways to engage them as partners in the student's learning
    • Participate in the school and district community, collaborating constructively with colleagues on curriculum, school projects, and contributing to a culture of professional inquiry
    • Engage in professional development to enhance content knowledge and pedagogical skills
    • Supports district initiatives and complies applicable board/administration policies/regulations

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to be mobile and transport instructional materials from one setting to another within the building. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
