About the Role

The Senior Credit Analyst plays a critical role in supporting Village Bank’s lending operations. This position is responsible for completing commercial credit presentations across a wide range of loan types, including:

  • Investor real estate
  • Commercial and industrial
  • Small Business Administration (SBA) loans

Working with minimal supervision, the Senior Credit Analyst provides detailed and timely credit underwriting support by preparing comprehensive loan summaries, financial analyses, and presentation materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze credit data and financial statements to evaluate borrower risk
  • Spread financial statements and tax returns for accurate financial representation.
  • Complete reviews of third-party reports (appraisals, valuations, environmental assessments).
  • Review credit files to ensure current financial information, uniform organization across bank locations and compliance with state, federal and internal policies.
  • Determine collateral valuations to ensure adequate security for the bank.
  • Perform discounted cash flow valuations and verify appraisal valuations.
  • Provide technical assistance to lenders as needed.
  • Assist customers and bank staff with all aspects of the commercial loan process.
  • Offer recommendations on loan policies and processes as appropriate.
  • Maintain and develop credit department reports as requested.
  • Assist in developing procedures, templates, spreadsheets to improve the credit process.

Qualifications

To be considered, you must have: 

  • At a minimum, an associate’s degree in accounting or related field
  • 5+ years of business loan underwriting or credit analysis experience
  • Knowledge of related state and federal banking regulations and other bank operational policies
  • Knowledge of bank policies and procedures along with Bank products and services offered
  • Exceptional oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, instruct others, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence and speak clearly to customers and employees
  • Commitment to providing superior customer service to internal and external customers, always demonstrating professionalism and confidentiality
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships to collaboratively achieve Bank goals 
  • Ability to work with limited supervision while performing duties
  • Must have a reasonable commute to either Ramsey, East Bethel, St. Francis or Blaine due to in-office requirements.
