Spotsylvania County Public Schools is seeking dedicated individuals to join our team as Substitute Teachers who will serve in a critical role that supports the educational environment in the absence of the classroom teacher. As a Substitute at SCPS, you will teach lesson plans as outlined by the teacher, encourage and maintain a positive classroom environment and work closely with students to ensure their academic needs are met. Supported by members of staff and administration, this position offers many networking and experience opportunites to those new to Education AND those who have been a part of this industry for many years.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED)


• Preferred age of 21 years or older.




• If an applicant is under 21, proof of enrollment in an education program must be provided.

A negative tuberculosis (TB) test result must be presented prior to your application being considered. Please see the "How To Apply" section for more details. 

 

Current Rates:

 

Substitute Daily Rate:

• $105.78/day without a four-year degree


• $116.36/day with a four-year degree or higher or teacher certification


• $95.20/day paraeducator

Permanent Substitute Daily Rate:

• $142.80/day 

Long-Term Substitute Daily Rate:

• $158.67/day 


• $206.27/day with a teacher certification

How to Apply:  

 

Please complete the online application. Once submitted, obtain a current (within the last three months) physician’s certificate indicating you are free of communicable tuberculosis. If you do not have a current certificate, the TB test may be administered by your family doctor or an appointment can be made with one of the local health departments for a nominal fee. The results of the TB skin test or assessment must be received before your application can begin the onboarding process.
