Description
The Printed Electronics Engineer Intern is responsible for assisting in the designing, developing, and maintaining drawings, building prototypes, and conducting testing for printed electronics applications, including membrane switches, flexible circuits, and printed sensors.
This role helps translate product requirements into production-ready work orders and engineers functional stack-up diagrams to ensure reliable performance, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Design, Drafting/CAD Technology, Graphic Communications, or a related field.
- Experience with CAD tools (such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Altium, or similar) or graphic design software (Adobe Illustrator, CorelDRAW, etc.) preferred
- Experience in art or blueprint work preferred.
Summary

This role helps translate product requirements into production-ready work orders and engineers functional stack-up diagrams to ensure reliable performance, manufacturability, and customer satisfaction.
- Assists in reviewing customer requirements for missing information and usability of the files.
- Maintains customer documentation organized by file name and date received.
- Resolves minor design issues that need to be addressed for the membrane switch build process; works with the internal customers to resolve design issues that need approval, making design recommendations as needed to allow for the success of the printing process.
- Inspects drawings for quality and accuracy.
- Designs and develops CAD drawings/Stack-up diagrams for printed electronics, including circuit patterns, graphic overlays, and supporting documentation.
- Collaborates with internal teams to ensure designs meet performance, quality, and production requirements.
- Modifies and updates CAD files and Stack-up diagrams based on customer requirements, design changes, or process improvements.
- Generates and manages accurate design files, bills of materials, and engineering change notices.
- Assists with design-for-manufacturability reviews and works with internal teams to validate artwork and Stack-up diagram compatibility with manufacturing processes.
- Supports prototype builds, including design validation, functional testing, and troubleshooting.
- Provides technical documentation and communicate design intent clearly to production, purchasing, and quality teams.
- Stays current on printed electronics materials, processes, and technologies.
