    I.  TITLE: Menu Planner (The remainder of the school year will be paid hourly. Benefits will begin in the 26-27 school year)

     

    II.  QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. High School Diploma preferred.
    2. Current Food Handlers Card and Serve Safe Certification or the ability to obtain both.
    3. Strong computer skills including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
    4. Knowledge of Batch Cooking and Recipes
    5. Ability to work with staff, students and the public.
    6. Strong math and communication skill
    7. Capable of lifting up to 40 pounds.
    8. Willingness to try new ideas.
    9. Physically able to perform assigned duties.
    10. Knowledge and experience with clerical duties.
    11. Strong telephone skills.
    12. Ability to complete required paperwork.
    13. Previous experience preferred, but not mandatory.
    14. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
    15. REPORTS TO: Child Nutrition Supervisor.

     

    III.  JOB GOALS:

             To support the delivery of School District 91's written, taught, tested and reported curriculum and contribute to maximizing student achievement.
             To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the child nutrition program so that the program's maximum positive impact on the education and health of children can be achieved. 

     

    IV. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Knows and follows nutritional guidelines.
    2. Plans for the use of government commodities as part of monthly menu planning.
    3. Visits kitchen to ensure that all nutritional guidelines are being met.
    4. Works with kitchens to check recipe accuracy.
    5. Prepares the production records.
    6. Creates the monthly menu and arranges for the printing and delivery to the schools.
    7. Prepares menus for special dietary needs.
    8. Understands and monitors nutrition standards for Idaho school meals and ala carte items to ensure that items meet nutritional standards.
    9. Uses the nutrient analysis software to create menus that meet nutritional standards.
    10. Works with the Child Nutrition Supervisor and the Inventory Control Clerk to ensure correct product is being used
    11. Maintains a database of nutritional information for all products used by the Child Nutrition Program.
    12. Maintains the inventory information from all of the locations and check for accuracy
    13. Maintains accurate records and completes all required paperwork.
    14. Knows and follows health and sanitation procedures.
    15. Performs required clerical and limited receiving duties at the warehouse as needed.
    16. Assist with the coverage of locations when short staffed.
    17. Helps with reviews of sites and training of staff as requested.
    18. Attends conferences and classes to help complete required continuing education/annual training standards each year.
    19. Answers the telephone in a pleasant and professional manner.
    20. Maintains high standards of ethical behavior and confidentiality.
    21. Has regular and predictable attendance.


     

    V.  OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    Performs all other duties as assigned.

     

    VI.  TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

     

    This position is scheduled for 205 days 40 hours a week. The exact terms of this position will be determined by the needs of the district and budgetary constraints. Benefits will be in accordance with approved Board policy. Wages will be in   accordance with the Classified Salary Schedule as a range from Grade 7 $18.87 or $19.82 (with a Bachelors Degree or 5 years relevant experience) per hour.
     
    This is an "at will" position in that the employer or employee may terminate employment at any time or for any reason consistent with applicable state or federal law.  The "employment at will" policy cannot be changed verbally or in writing, unless the change is specifically authorized in writing and expressly approved by the Board of Trustees of District 91.

     

    VII.  EVALUATION:

     
     Performance of this position will be evaluated annually by the Child Nutrition Supervisor in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on the evaluation of classified personnel.
                     
     This position has been given an overall physical classification of light duty.
