    Position Overview

    The Elementary Special Education Teacher serves as case manager for assigned students and ensures high quality instruction, meaningful progress, and full compliance with state and federal special education requirements. This role requires strong instructional practice along with consistent attention to timelines, documentation, and collaboration.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Serve as case manager for students with IEPs
    • Develop, write, and implement compliant IEPs
    • Deliver specialized instruction aligned to student goals
    • Monitor progress and maintain accurate data collection
    • Ensure timelines and documentation meet IDEA and Michigan requirements
    • Facilitate IEP meetings and maintain proactive family communication
    • Collaborate with general education teachers across Classic and Spanish Immersion tracks
    • Coordinate related services and supervise paraprofessionals as assigned
    • Maintain organized and audit-ready records

    Qualifications

    • Valid Michigan teaching certificate
    • Special Education endorsement required
    • Experience in elementary special education preferred
    • Strong knowledge of IEP development and compliance standards
    • Ability to balance instruction with documentation and timelines
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills
    • Commitment to small school culture and community engagement
