Job Purpose

Cart Loader/Unloader/Utility encompasses many job duties during the workday; and makes up a large part of the team on the production floor.  Without the support and abilities of these team members, production would not be possible.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

This position consists of several different duties. A typical day could include any or all of the following positions:

 

  1. Utility: Gather garbage cans at beginning of shift and distribute throughout production lines. Stock lines with necessary totes, lids, containers, etc. throughout the shift. During production stage carts, verifying tags and print color on containers. Separate loaded carts by code and then place empty carts in their loading area. Check garbage cans periodically and dispose of waste. Load cardboard boxes into caser as necessary. Use pallet jack to move full skids of product to appropriate location. At the end of the production run assist in cleaning up the area and taking supplies to their proper locations (trash cans, totes, etc.)
  2. Cart Unloader: Verify that all carts being ran match the Cage tags. Fill out headers and fill out paperwork for the pack line. Record Start time of each cart of said code. Record the start time of pack off of each cart. Relay the cage tag to the palletizer when each new code is being ran. Remove trays from carts and place onto packing conveyor, keeping a steady flow at all times.
  3. Cart Loader: Verify correct retort carts are being used for current product run. Keep in contact with operator or lead of any situations on the line. Keep track of Retort Schema, and audit that correct pouches are placed in correct numbers and position. Lift retort trays correctly filled with cups, pouches, bowls, etc. and place on a retort cart. Place empty trays on the cart. In process of being loaded, making sure that no pouches are overhanging the tray. Push full cart into staging area for retort and replace with empty cart.

  • General math, reading and communication skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively with peers and supervisors.
  • Willingness and ability to follow instructions given to you by your supervisor.
  • Be aware and follow GMP’s.

 

 

Requirements

Physical Requirements

A typical day for this position can include repetitive bending, lifting, and lowering, continuous standing, walking and frequent, repetitive reaching and arm extensions of up to 3 feet.  Will need to possess the ability to lift up to 35 pounds. Pushing/pulling/moving objects weighing up to 2000 pounds using specialized tools, equipment, and machines is required.  Position will also frequent the production floor, so operating in standard seasonal warehouse and food processing plant temperature conditions will be required. Work is completed in a facility where nuts, fruits and other allergens are present.
