Small Engine Mechanic

Miron Construction Co., Inc. | Yard Operations

DEPARTMENT: Yard Operations

JOB CLASSIFICATION: Full-Time

FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non-Exempt

REPORTS TO: Small Tool Maintenance Manager

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None

TRAVEL REQUIRED: 5%

WORK SCHEDULE: Day Shift

 

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for servicing the company's small engine equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Inspects, diagnoses, and repairs the company's small engine vehicles and equipment.
  • Examines incoming equipment and oversees diagnostic tests to determine potential functionality problems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or any combination of education and professional experience that would meet the responsibilities listed above.
  • Two years of experience in a similar role and trade certification is preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of internal combustion engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical one-line diagrams with an ability to read and understand their diagrams.
  • Capable of taking direction and working in a team environment.
  • Strong attention to detail with a desire to problem solve.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Primarily a mechanic shop environment.

ADA PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The following outlines how much on-the-job time is spent on specific physical activities. Under 1/3 of your time will be spent walking, sitting, tasting or smelling, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Up to 2/3 of your time will be spent standing, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling, and lifting up to 25 pounds. Over 2/3 of your time will be spent using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing. Mechanic shop environment that requires extensive use of hand and power tools.
