Job Description

The Financial Systems Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day support of financial systems such as but not limited to Oracle E-Business Suite applications (Oracle Financials, Property Manager, Inventory, Projects, Purchasing/Procurement, etc.) in the global Oracle environment. Utilizing an in-depth knowledge of Oracle applications, the incumbent will troubleshoot, determine the root cause, and effectively resolve production problems. Excellent customer service and communication skills are critical for this position.  The incumbent will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with key customers and stakeholders. The Financial Systems Engineer is expected to deliver a high level of customer service, understand the business challenges of our customers, and demonstrate strong and effective communication skills. The incumbent must be resilient and flexible in response to a rapidly growing organization with changing business needs and able to champion change. 

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Provide day to day Level 3 (top tier) support of installed Oracle eBusiness Suite applications and related enhancements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
    • Root cause analysis of all reported issues; root cause analysis for P1/P2 critical/major issues will be documented according to ATC IT standards and shared with business leads
    • Timely issue research and resolution
    • Effective collaboration with Oracle Support
    • Communication with customers
    • Problem and resolution documentation
    • Adhere to ATC ISO 9001 standards (SOP)
    • Monitor Service Now for new tickets/requests assigned to Oracle EBS assignment group and take immediate action to assign (or triage) tickets to appropriate group/person
    • Monitor Oracle long-running programs and program failures; follow up with appropriate teams (DBA, development, etc.)
    • During issue analysis and proposed resolution, the expectation is that the engineer will also identify possible solutions which will prevent recurrence of the issue(s) thereby improving customer (user) experience with Oracle EBS
  • Work as a subject matter expert with the customers for all financial ERP applications production issues, such as sharing Oracle knowledge with customers and provide guidance on better utilization of existing application functionality to avoid unnecessary customizations
  • Develop partnerships and integrate activities within all levels within the IT organization. Develop and maintain relationships with business stakeholders and customers. Understand the challenges of the customer and communicate in a collaborative and clear way. 
  • Demonstrate solid analytical skills working with various support vendors (such as Oracle Support). Adhere to Oracle escalation processes, Duty Manager escalation, in effort to avoid delays with issue resolution
  • Support of month-end Financials close for all the subledgers and General Ledger. Fully understand rigid deadlines of the end-of-month schedule and address all customers’ problems urgently and without delays ensuring their ability to close the books on time
  • Analyze and research Oracle patches, determine the need for regression testing, coordinate testing tasks with internal customers, and follow American Tower existing SDLC practices for deployment of code changes, configuration modifications and patches to Production
  • Participate with other IT staff and internal customers in new product reviews, tests and pilots
  • Actively participate in application upgrades, fully understand new and enhanced functionality delivered by the upgrade, become familiar with the upgrade test scripts, and provide reliable post-upgrade support
  • Develop productive business relationships and integrate activities with IT team members, primarily Quality Assurance, Software Development and Database Administration teams, to ensure successful deployment and support of Production issues
  • Foster and maintain trusted business partner relationships with customers and IT colleagues

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills as well as in-depth knowledge of Oracle Applications in the global environment is a must
  • Excellent customer service working in the global multi-cultural environment 
  • Strong attention to details. Strong organizational skills; ability to accomplish multiple tasks within the agreed upon timeframes through effective prioritization of duties and functions in a fast-paced and changing environment.  Demonstrates ability to react quickly and concisely. 
  • Ability to understand business concepts and evaluate the impact of business changes on systems 
  • Ability to learn new applications (Oracle and non-Oracle)
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office suite and Visio 
  • Conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies 
  • Ability to work with functional groups and different level of employees throughout the American Tower organization to effectively and professionally achieve business results
  • Strong follow-up skills; ability to organize applicable department timelines and follow up with internal and external customer needs as needed
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present ideas and suggestions clearly and effectively
  • Self-motivated, able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests as well as collaborating with others to utilize resources and knowledge in identifying high quality solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree is required
  • Minimum five (5) years professional experience in Oracle Support or as a “super user” of financial applications ERP system such as Oracle EBS
  • Understanding of relational databases and proficiency with TOAD/SQL 
  • Ability to troubleshoot effectively by creating SQL queries
  • Prior experience in Finance and Accounting environment is a strong plus
