(QPWB), a multi-office national defense firm and the largest minority- and women-owned law firm in the United States, is seeking a Legal Assistant to support our New York / New Jersey offices. This is a full-time position offering a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.

About the Role

The Legal Assistant will support attorneys handling civil litigation defense matters, with a focus on cases in New York Supreme Court. This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draft and prepare correspondence and legal documents, including basic pleadings and filings, under attorney direction
  • Handle NYSCEF e-filing and ensure compliance with New York court procedures
  • Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including court deadlines, hearings, and depositions
  • Organize and maintain case files (physical and electronic), ensuring accuracy and accessibility
  • Monitor case progress and escalate issues requiring attorney involvement
  • Schedule depositions, hearings, and client meetings
  • Communicate professionally with clients, court personnel, and opposing counsel
  • Assist with trial preparation, including organizing exhibits and case materials
  • Provide general administrative and litigation support as needed

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of legal assistant experience supporting attorneys in civil litigation, preferably in New York
  • Experience with New York Supreme Court litigation strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with NYSCEF filing procedures required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
