Location: FFSD Operations & Maintenance Hub District-Wide


Status: 12-Month Operation (261 Days) Support Staff Non-Exempt (FLSA)

Role Summary


As the Lead Grounds Maintenance professional, you perform and coordinate the essential care of our district’s exterior. Reporting to the Director of Operations/Maintenance, you provide day-to-day leadership to the grounds staff, assisting with scheduling, work assignments, and quality control. From athletic field preparation to seasonal snow removal, you ensure that our equipment is running smoothly and our properties are maintained to the highest standard.


Why You’ll Succeed (Qualifications)



  • The Experienced Leader: You bring at least three (3) years of experience in grounds maintenance or landscaping, with prior lead or supervisory experience preferred.

  • Educationally Prepared: High school diploma or GED required.

  • Technical Mastery: You have deep experience operating commercial grounds equipment, maintaining irrigation systems, and preparing athletic fields for competition.

  • Safety First: You possess a working knowledge of chemical application (pesticides/herbicides) and a strong commitment to OSHA and district safety regulations.

  • Licensed & Ready: You must possess and maintain a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Air Brake endorsement (or be able to obtain one within 6 months) and a Missouri Pesticide Technician’s license.

  • Physical Resilience: You thrive in the outdoors and are capable of frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs consistently) and responding to the physical demands of all-weather maintenance.


Your Impact (Key Duties)



  • Crew Leadership: Provide daily guidance to the grounds team, coordinating work orders and ensuring all staff follow safe operating procedures.

  • Landscape Stewardship: Direct and perform mowing, trimming, planting, and specialized turf care to keep our properties looking their best.

  • Athletic Excellence: Oversee the layout and marking of athletic fields, ensuring our scholars play on safe, professional-grade surfaces.

  • Equipment Oversight: Ensure all grounds equipment and vehicles are inspected, maintained, and operated efficiently.

  • Seasonal Readiness: Lead the charge in snow and ice removal, staying ready for emergency call-backs to ensure our schools can open safely.

  • Strategic Collaboration: Assist the Director in identifying long-term grounds needs, ordering supplies, and maintaining accurate records of work performed.

The Logistics of Your Success



  • Classification: Support Staff 12-Month Work Calendar (261 Days).

  • Work Year: Full-time (8 hours daily) with availability for emergency call-backs.

  • Salary: Compensated according to the District Maintenance Salary Schedule.
