Job Description

Reports To: Director of Maintenance


Length of Work Year: 12 months


 


Job Responsibilities:



  1. Examines school buildings on a regular basis for needed repairs and maintenance.

  2. Reports immediately to the maintenance director any damage to school property.

  3. Conducts periodic inspections and tests of all electrical installations in the schools and other school-owned properties to ensure their safe condition.

  4. Cleans and maintains all boilers and other major equipment.

  5. Participates in necessary painting and general repairs to plumbing, electrical, carpentry and general mechanical areas.

  6. Checks periodically for the general fire safety of the buildings.

  7. Conducts an ongoing program of general maintenance, upkeep and repair.

  8. Reports regularly and punctually to assigned work location and notifies supervisor or designee of impending absence in a timely manner.

  9. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.


Minimum Qualifications:



  1. Demonstrated success in performing tasks listed above.


Desirable Qualifications:



  1. High school diploma

  2. Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the basic techniques of electrical repair, maintenance and carpentry

  3. A minimum of one (1) year experience in general maintenance operations.


 


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:


 


Environment: Standard maintenance shop, office, and school settings; may require moderate-high travel; exposure to potentially stressful environments; variance in work volume seasonal and predictable; regularly perform inside and/or outside with potential for exposure to adverse environmental and hazardous conditions.


Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform heavy lifting; regularly required to walk, sit or stand for prolonged periods of time; may require climbing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching.


Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.


Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction; the noise level in the work environment is moderate.
