About the Department

Are you a proficient customer service professional with strong numerical aptitude? Join the Chatham County Tax Commissioner’s Office as a Motor Vehicle Processor I, where you'll utilize your skills to assist customers with tax, tag, title, and registration processes, ensuring accurate financial transactions and exceptional service delivery.

Position Duties

  • Perform administrative and customer service work in processing taxes, tags, titles, registrations, and disabled placards for customers and dealerships. 
  • Process in-person renewals as well as issue decals for mail-in renewals. 
  • Verify money at the beginning of the day, verify all transactions through calculation and the computer, print tapes on Tellermate machines, and verify amounts turned in at the end of each day, ensuring accurate accounting of all funds. 
  • Answer questions and concerns by providing information, and direct customers to appropriate parties as necessary by phone or in person,
  • Utilize your knowledge of Georgia motor vehicle titling, registration, and Title Ad Valorem Tax (TAVT) laws in performing daily work. 
  • Perform work involving decimals, percentages, and fractions. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED, and 
  • At least one (1) year of experience in customer service or computer applications; or
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience. 
  • Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. 
  • Must be able to type a minimum of 25 words per minute. Selected candidates will be required to complete keyboarding and clerical testing during the interview process.
