As an Automation QA Engineer II, you'll be responsible for applying your in-depth knowledge of automation frameworks and best practices to develop and implement robust test automation solutions. You'll work independently within our established automation framework to tackle challenging yet well-defined automation tasks. You'll leverage your understanding of specialized testing principles and methodologies to design, develop, and execute comprehensive test automation scripts for various functionalities.


Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities (90%)

  • Test Planning and Strategy: Lead the planning of testing strategies, ensuring comprehensive coverage and alignment with project goals.
  • Test Case Development: Independently design, develop, and implement automated test strategies and test cases with minimal supervision.
  • Debugging: Use debugging techniques to identify root causes of complex issues uncovered through automated testing.
  • Bug Reporting: Accurately document bugs with essential details, using the bug tracking system effectively.
  • Version Control (Git): Manage and track changes in code repositories efficiently.
  • Programming Languages: Utilize intermediate to advanced knowledge of programming languages (JavaScript, Java, Python, TypeScript) to write test scripts or understand code for test automation.
  • Attention to Detail: Maintain high attention to detail to identify even minor issues.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Analyze root causes of defects found during testing and make recommendations to prevent similar problems in the future.
  • Communication Skills: Report issues effectively and collaborate with the development team.
  • Automation Strategy: Identify opportunities for automation within assigned testing areas, propose enhancements to the overall automation strategy, and stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in automation testing tools and best practices.

Additional Responsibilities (10%)

  • Documentation: Generate detailed test result reports, present findings to stakeholders, and assist in maintaining the project knowledge base. Continuously document and refine your automation scripts, ensuring clarity, maintainability, and adherence to established standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in the analysis of current testing processes and suggest improvements under supervision.
  • Team Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand deeper product requirements and ensure test coverage aligns with business goals.

Requirements 

  • Has 3-4 years of experience in software testing or a related field, with a strong background in test automation.
  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of core testing principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with automated testing for web, mobile, and API applications.
  • Has a proven track record of independently designing, developing, and maintaining effective test automation scripts.
  • Is a strong analytical thinker with excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Effectively communicates both verbally and in writing with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Computer requirements:
    • Intel i5 / Apple M1 (or equivalent) or higher 
    • 16 GB RAM minimum (32 GB preferred for heavy suites)
    • SSD storage (at least 256 GB)
  • Equipment requirements:
    • Noise-cancelling headset
    • Webcam
    • Optional but helpful: second monitor (huge productivity boost)

Nice to Have

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
