Heavy Equipment Technician (Experienced)

C.R. Jackson, Inc. – South Carolina

Position Summary

C.R. Jackson, Inc. is seeking experienced Heavy Equipment Technicians who are self-motivated, safety-focused, and strong team players. This is an hourly, skilled technician role responsible for performing preventative maintenance and repairs on company vehicles and heavy equipment.

The Heavy Equipment Technician’s primary responsibility is to troubleshoot issues, inspect equipment, determine the extent of damage or malfunction, and complete necessary repairs to keep operations running safely and efficiently.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain daily communication with the Shop Foreman to review goals and priorities
  • Perform diagnostic testing to determine equipment service needs
  • Communicate repair scope and progress with the Shop Foreman
  • Repair or replace damaged and non-functioning components
  • Prioritize and execute daily maintenance and repair tasks
  • Follow all company policies, procedures, and OSHA safety regulations
  • Work collaboratively with team members in a supportive environment
  • Perform additional duties as assigned

 

Required Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to pass background check and drug screening
  • Strong ability to listen, understand, and follow directions effectively and professionally
  • Flexibility to work overtime and varying hours as needed
  • Ability to perform manual labor in all weather conditions
  • Commitment to safety, including proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment repair and mechanical maintenance experience required
  • Experience working with dirt and asphalt construction equipment preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams (preferred)
  • Valid driver’s license required; CDL is a plus

 

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent or technical repair background preferred

 

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, and crouch for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push/pull similar loads
  • Ability to work on uneven terrain and active job sites
  • Must remain alert to surroundings including equipment and traffic
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to work nights and Saturdays as needed
