Previous experience working within the food service industry is preferred.

Description:

The School District of Springfield Township is seeking candidates who possess excellent interpersonal skills, the desire to work with energetic students, and the ability to relate well within the school community. The Food Service Worker assists in the preparation, serving, and cleanup of nutritious meals in accordance with federal, state, and district regulations. The position supports the operation of the school cafeteria, ensuring a clean, safe, and efficient food service environment that promotes the health and well-being of students and staff.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and serve breakfast and lunch items following established menus, portion control, and presentation standards.
  • Operate kitchen equipment safely and in compliance with district and state sanitation guidelines.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of food preparation, serving, and dining areas.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment using proper sanitizing procedures.
  • Stock and rotate supplies and food items to ensure freshness and prevent waste.
  • Assist with the setup and breakdown of serving lines and salad bars.
  • Follow all safety and food handling procedures in compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) and USDA Child Nutrition Program standards.
  • Record food quantities, temperatures, and other required production information accurately.
  • Provide courteous and efficient service to students, staff, and visitors.

Terms of employment:

4 hours per day, 10:00am-2:00pm.  10-month position following the SDST District calendar.  Hours subject to change based on district need.
